2011 Cross Country Season
When: Practices will be on Monday and Thursday nights, beginning Thursday, September 1st. The first practice includes a mandatory information meeting for parents. (Note: no practice on Labor Day). We will start out from 6:00 to approximately 7:30. Parents must be available to pick up their kids 15 minutes prior to the end of practice. As it starts getting dark earlier, practice will start earlier. Check the Calendar page for the most up-to-date schedule.
Where: Butler Park, Gettle Rd, Averill Park
Who: Kids ages 7-14 who like to run, play games & have fun!
What: Practices will consist of long distance running, trail running, sprinting exercises and lots of games. Through the season there will be several meets where we are competing against other teams. There are usually a few home meets at Butler Park as well as away meets. The big event is your participation in the Junior Olympics in November.
How: Sign-up by clicking here and registering through sportssignup.com. The cost is $30 plus $10 for a t-shirt if you need one. There is a $10 sibling discount. There is a $10 late fee after August 20th. We are a
501(c)3 Non-Profit organization and do not want the cost of APRR
Programs to be a barrier to participation. If your child is interested
in participating but your current financial
circumstance is a concern, please contact the APRR Board. We have a
number of scholarships available.
All athletes must also be registered with the USATF (United States Track & Field Association). Registrations cost $20 for youth and are good for a calendar year. If you already registered for Track and Field (spring) you can use the same number for Cross Country (fall).
Get
your child's USATF number first because you will need it for the AP
Road Runners registration process. If you are not a member of USATF,
you will need to register with them before you can register for APRR.
USATF registration is required for all athletes, as our insurance is
through USATF and we are a USATF Sanctioned Club.
If you have problems or questions about registration, contact Pamela Rehak at 766-5280.
